Default Need help with Detachable backrest and luggage rack

I have an 06 SG and was thinking of getting a Detachable Passenger Sissy Bar Upright -Medium.

I don't want to buy the wrong parts from the start so I'm not sure which way to go.
I basically ride solo but the SO rides occasionally and complains because there is no backrest. I definitely want a removable type but not sure what height to get.Harley makesshort, medium and tall. Anyone have suggestions? Also if I want to add a detachable luggage rack toit later on would it be a problem adding a stealth tour pack or even an after market tour pack to it? Are there different luggage racks for the tour packs? How does that work?

I have the medium upright with the detachable luggage rack. I use a large T-bag for traveling. It works well. This is the luggage rack I have:

If you want a Tour Pak, you have to buy the detacable rack for it. It is not compatable with a sissybar.

I can't give you any information on the luggage racks or tour packs, however I do know that there is no much of a difference between the different backrest heights. The medium height puts the bottom of the backrest 2"-3" above the pillion pad depending on what seat you have and the low is about 2" lower than that and the tall is 2" taller than that. I went with the medium and it seems fine.

And if you did, you'd have a hard time reading it.

Thanks, that's what it looked like from afar. I'm looking for something for7-10 day trips and this looks like it should work.

Backrest height will be determined by what seat you are running and how tall the rider is.
On my EG Standard, the wife likes the stock big pillowy seat and she is 5'10" tall, so I went with the tall
backrest for it. However with the Street Glide seat I have, it's definitley a bit too tall to be ideal on
longer trips.

I went with the detachable backrest and the detachable large rack. That way I could have both on,
just the backrest, or just the rack. But to do this, I had to invest in the backrest assembly, dock hardare for the backrest, rack assembly, and dock hardware for the rack. Not cheap, but worth the flexibility it gives me.

Sounds like you might be able to get away with the rack that
clamps on to the backrest uprights and just remove it as one piece when riding solo.
