Sounds like you might be able to get away with the rack that
clamps on to the backrest uprights and just remove it as one piece when riding solo.
Yup I think that is the way to go and maybe some type of T-bag for longer trips. The only thing to worry about is rain. Maybe get some type of cover for the T-bag. Tour packs are just too damn expensive and this way everything can be removed once I get to my destination.

I believe the T-Bags come with a cover. At least the Lonestar does.

No real need for a cover with the Lonestar bag. It is double walled. I have ridden in some downpours and haven't ever gotten my stuff wet.

You can use a detachable sissy bar or a detachable two-up tour pack, but you can't use them at the same time. You can also mount a tour back on a solo rack. Pictures are shown at page 420 of the current P&A catalog. The docking hardware kits that mount permanently to the bike are: 53806-06 (for use withthe sissy bar detachable rack and solo detachable tour packrack); and, 53988-07. I use both on my '04 EG, but ride with no pack or backrest with a solo seat 80% of the time.

With an SG, to do the two-up detachablerack, you will need the slot in the filler strip at the rear fender where the antenna pops through.HD sells an antenna relocation kit to move the antenna. Also, there are antennas that mount under the outer fairing; Dakota Digital being one of the brand names, to eliminate the antenna relocation issue.

We use the detachable sissy bar (mdeium) and the detachable luggage rack. They work great. However, my wife would like her back rest to be a bit taller [&:]
