I had a '95 Buell Thunderbolt with a built motor and intercooled Aerocharger turbo. For those not familiar with Aerochargers, they have adjustable vanes and a toggle switch that can be set to low or high boost. I could run it on pump gas on low boost (14 pounds), but high boost (18 pounds) required racing fuel. For ***** and grins I bought 5 gallons of race fuel once, put her on high boost and went for a ride. The bike dyno'd at 140 hp/ 138 tq and of course being a turbo there was some lag, so when you wicked it you'd be getting maybe 90 hp at first and then the rest would hit you like a 2x4 to the face. Good gosh that thing could get the adrenaline going! It was exhilarating, but when the adrenaline would kick in so would that voice saying "dude what the hell are you doing, you're an old man with 3 kids", LOL! I had my fun with that 5 gallons and then set it back to low boost and left it there for the rest of the years I had it. It was still darned fast on low boost, but at the lower setting I felt like I still had some control rather than just hanging on for dear life
I like speed, but in short burst and wide open space, the HD touring isn't made to go too fast for too long, and even with a few extras any 1000cc crotch rocket will roll past you like your standing still.
