Default 2012 FLHX gps battery drain.

I just bought my 2012 FLHX in March and I have had to charge the battery three times since. The battery will only last about one week with out bein ridden. I called the dealer and they told me this is a known problem with no fix and I would have to keep the battery tender plugged in when it is not in use. They said the power draw from the GPS unit was to much for the battery. When I asked if there will be a fix or is a TSB out on it, I was told no fix and no TSB would be issued. This my friends does not sit well with me, but I thought I could get some opinions from you guys?

The GPS should be wired into the switched 12V ..... if it's wired into non-switched (direct) 12V..... it was done WRONG.

Who wired up the GPS?

Open your fairing and use the hot wire from your cigarette lighter. When the bike is off, no power to the GPS.

Thanks everyone for you posts, it turns out the dealership had wired it in wrong and connected it directly to the battery. It took a bit of push and shove to get them to really look into it. I am not very happy with the service department at this dealership and it is not the first time they have f*&ked up one of my bikes.

Name the dealer. You might save someone else from their stupidity.
