The latch just pops up. Started last week and is getting worse till now I have to lock it to keep it from popping up. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

 

the canvas material is more than likely in between
the lid and the bag when you close it. you can:
remove it and flip it 180 degrees and re-install.
remove it, iron it, re-install.
push in with hand right before lid closes.
check one of these before thinking something else
is wrong.

 

I have to tuck the canvas material in on both my bags. Once it gets shut with that in the way it will always be a problem because you crease the material.

I've see that sometimes the hard bag needs to be reset on the mounts, not sure why but after reseting the bag closes, may need to seat to the position or similar, is the bag new? If so reseat & the bag should close.

 

I had one do that on my '06.
I found that the locking tab was misaligned.

 

You may have to bend the metal piece that pinches to hold it shut. Check the other side to see what I mean. That being said, after I did that to mine, I lock the bags when I ride so they don't pop open.

 

Nope, it was the canvas. So I have to remove it and iron it to get it to stop doing that? Im supposing it started due to my bag being overpacked when we went to laughlin. Nowhere for the canvas to go but under the lip of the lid. Or will I have to replace it?
Is there something that I can replace it with that has storage?

 

Just make sure the canvas is "folding in over the top of your stuff" when you start to shut the bags.
It's not hard to do and is second nature after a while. You could iron it to start with I guess might help.

 

Had the same problem on my left bag so for almost a year I did as you and locked it. Then it mysteriously fixed itself.
