Default super glue and chrome

Was having trouble with the two sided tape Harley uses for theirchrome guage bezels, so I put a couple of drops of super glue on the inside of bezel and attached to guages. Took care of that problem but now I have this white chalky looking film that keeps showing up on chrome and faces of guages. Does anybody know if super glue has an adverse reaction to chrome? Dont bother calling me a D. A. ......I already know!

The filming should go away after a while. Super glue gives off some weird stuff in the fumes. Cops use it to develop fingerprints....basically they put an object with a print on it in a sealed box and open a tray of glue. The fumes stay in the container and lay on the sweaty/oily prints.

It's called Fuming, really nasty and the fumes are very dangerous. I'm not sure if that will ever go away.

Took some acetone and cleaned gauges and bezels. Seems to have cleared up the problem, if it doesnt show up again with a humidity change. The silicone idea sounds like a better idea.

Yeah that wasn’t the best thing clear silicone always. But get a Q-tip and some acetone or nail polish remover has some acetone in it , try that.
