Default Cams, Rods, Exhaust, TTS, Dyno = $2814

I am in San Diego and got the following quote. I know the bassani is $200 over what I can get online but does 4hrs on a dyno sound like a lot? Total is $2814 with tax........

TTS2000 EFI TTS Master Tune KU9220 1 $425.00

HD17997-99A Adjustable pushrod kit - TC88 1 $149.95

DS0925-0115 TW37 chain drive cams 1 $287.95

DS1800-1284 Bassani B1 exhaust chrome 1 $859.95

HD25244-99A Gasket, cam cover 1 $5.95

HD9215 Needle bearing, cam 2 $5.95

CC20W50MTP Syn 3 20W50 CC synthetic 1 $9.99

Labor hrs.

Install TW37 chain drive cams, Adjustable pushrod kit , Bassani B1 exhaust
chrome, EFI TTS Master Tune 6hr @ 88.00 = $528.00

Dyno tune Dynamometer active diagnostics 4hr @100.00 = $400.00

4 hours of dyno tuning doesn't sound too bad.

The labor charges look to be in line with what most places are charging. A comprehensive dyno tune should take several hours, and 350 to 400 bucks is the going rate, whether it takes 2 hours or 6.

You should use the newer SE tapered adjustable pushrods. (18404-08).

It looks like you are in the ball park for having a shop do it all. If you aren't a wrench or a do it yourselfer, it's not bad.

You could save a few hundred bucks getting the stage 1 parts yourself and installing them yourself. A stage 1 (exhaust and tuner) are really simple installs.

Good luck.

if you can't do the work yourself...it is what it is...there's a lot of hours involved, investment in tools, aside from parts and staff labor costs.

if you could do the work yourself and instead of buying dyno tune time, buy a system that has auto tune, you would save a ton of money. Dyno shops don't like auto tune systems since it elemiinates a product and/or service they use as a cash cow.

Thanks everyone; I am just starting the 5 year extended warranty and want the shop to do this work so if anything untoward happens they can blame themselves

Thinking about moving to the Andrews 26 cam, as this seems to have the most low end rpm grunt delivery for 2up riding.

Make very sure the warranty will still cover.

When I had my Ultra and the dealer called and asked about a set of andrews cams and head work, tune, exhaust, etc, I received a letter a few days later with a check for what was left in value on my warranty, the warranty was void because the person on the phone with the dealer rep entered the work had been done, and all I did was ask.........

Who's doing the work? Make sure what you have is "quote" and not an "estimate". I made that mistake at Kennedy's. They wanted to charge me another $200 above the "estimate". And if you have the 103", I don't think the 26 is the recommended choice for a cam. I have it on my 95".

well I think an expereinced mechanic should be able to do cams with adjustables in under 4 hours. I just did a set in my 2011 RGU and reused the stock pushrods and that adds time as you need to remove the tank and rocker covers etc and I did it in under 6 hours. Mine was a little easier as I have 2.1 headers which come off and go back on in a couple of minutes. The new style tensioners/cam plate make it uber easy comapred to the earlier style. I think the 4 hours for the dyno is a good tho.
It is not that tough and if you can read a service manual you can do it yourself and save a bundle. Direct harley parts sells all andrews cams for $221 and PC pain on this site from Horny Toad harley in Temple Tx beats 425 for the tts by a bunch so you could save yourself one heck of a lot of money.
