Question Problem securing headlamp door (trim ring) on 2012 Road King

Hello, I can't seem to secure the headlamp door (trim ring) on my 2012 Road King and I'm hoping someone has tips or tricks for doing it.

I took off the trim ring and removed the headlamp bucket while changing my handlebars. I'm certain the trim ring was fastened all the way around and not moveable before I started the job.

I have the square spring in the slot at the top and I tightened the screw on the bottom, but if I hold the sides of the trim ring I can wiggle it back and forth (it pivots on the top spring and bottom screw).

This is my first post. I've been reading the forum for the past few months since I bought my FLHR and have learned a great deal from all of you but haven't come across this particular problem.

Any ideas on how I can secure that headlamp trim ring all the way around are appreciated!

Question

Should the stock trim ring "snap in" behind the headlamp bucket or does it simply sit on top of the bucket and flush with the nacelle?

the top has a wire springy thing that goes in the slot and then you just push the bottom on and insert the screw...if the top is in the slot and the screw is in the hole and tight you are done...

Thanks mrfikser. After doing that, if I tug left and right on the trim ring should it wiggle or should it not move? I can wiggle mine, but I get the feeling I shouldn't be able to?

Same thing happened to the trim ring on my SG after I replaced the stock headlight with the HD LED headlight. I was thinking of adding a small piece of foam or rubber to "tighten" it.

Same proble. The little wire spring thing kept coming loose when I would try to close until I pushed it in with a screwdriver tip instead trying to snap it. If I would have tried that first I would have saved 20 minutes.
