Unhappy Igniton/Fork Lock Doesn't Lock

Hey all looked thru the searches and couldn't find my situation...09 FLHTCU when I lock the ignition/fork lock it works like it's supposed to, however if i wiggle the switch back and forth while lifting it, it will pop up and I can then turn it to all positions. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

the switches on these things seem to be a little fickle. I know if it is installed incorrectly, it will do that. I've had to take mine off and re-install it a couple times after I've taken the bike apart and put it back together because of similar things. My key just doesn't fit in properly when I don't get it right when I try to unlock it.

Are you trying to lock it in the Off(Straight Down) position, or the Fork Lock position? Because I found out recently that the bike will only lock in the Fork Lock or Accessory position. It was actually in my manual.

It is in the "lock" position...When I remove the entire piece....the actual "post" seems a little loose to me. Not sure if it's natural or not. I think it's loose enough to move the locking mechanism out enough to "miss" the flange, therefore I can release the whole switch and rotate to any position... Thought it was kind of comical....spend $ 20,000 on a bike...protected by this little piece of sh#* 1/8" of metal that locks the column. Don't know if it can be fixed, or need a new one with new key and everything? Thanks for your responses.

The **** itself would be ordered with your current key code. Best thing to do first is to remove the ignition **** and have a look-see. Reinstall using the proper alignment tool (which I have here if you don't get it figured out before you're up this way)

The lock was probably just installed in the wrong position and is an easy fix.If you have a manual it's in there. It's a liitle much to post on here but there is a youtube video that is informative also.

Hey all, peeled the metal decal "lock/unlock" off the top of ignition **** last night. Turns out the 3 Torx screws underneath decal were very loose. Tightened them, good as new. Now, just have to re-attach decal. Thanks again for info and assistance.
