Default GPS mount for 2012 RKC w/1.25" bars

I'm considering buying a Garmin Nuvi 550 and a RAM mount.

I used their tool to determine what I need, and it comes up with a u-bolt mount and a cradle - probably fine but I'm concerned about scratching my bars.

Anyone else use this mount, or can recommend a different mount?

Harley has a mount for the Zumo 550. Hard to find but very nice and strong. They have it in black or chrome. I chose the black. Have your dealer check the -'07, '08 or '09 parts catalog. I dont remember which one it was.

I have the Ram "U" bolt, no damage to the bars, you can pull the arm off, just leave the ball on the bars. Two seconds and your back in business again

I got that set up on my scoot. I just put some electrical tape on the bars prior to putting the u bolt clamp on. Been working great for about 1.5 years now. Of course your mileage may vary.... Happy trails

This is how I mounted mine, I also have a U-bolt mounted device on the other side and it has not damaged the bars.

I taped the U bolt instead of the bars and they were perfect when I the mount off the mars three years later.
