I put some plastic clear tubing around the u bolt works great no scratches

It's not for everyone but a lot of people like the nice chrome and solid materials (also made in the USA)...

 

I had a U bolt mount on my bike, and it did leave a very slight blemish on it when I took it off. It's hard to see, but it's there.


With years of therapy and the right nurse, I have managed to get past this tragic event and move on with my life.


But seriously, Techmount makes some very nice handlebar mounts for GPS devices, and most of them have a plastic insert that will protect your bars.

 

Check out this I mounted one of these on my enter Fairing they come in 1/4 and 5/16. They can be mounted on the windshield bolts and I even saw someone with it mounted to the console on a road King. I found it on ebay made in USA price is not bad either.

 

I had the Moto mount but finally broke down and bought the HD mount for my zumo 660.

 

You can also put the U-Bolts thru some heat shrink instead of using tape.

 

I bought a machined chrome ball mount for my Nuvi 750 off ebay. It's 100 times better that the plastic RAM crap. I'll look tonight & find where I got it & post it then. It's very compact & nice looking.
