Some one mentioned to turn the gain all the way down and then turn up your volume all the way. Then turn the gain up until you get distortion. I didn't like that. I turned my volume about half way, then I turned up the gain until I heard distortion. I turned it down a little. It's at about a 5 or 6. I like having the extra gain in case a song I downloaded is a little on the weak side. This gives me a little more control. Just because there are more bars in the volume control does not mean you have to use them.

Murph is correct. DO NOT put head unit volume all the way up. I usually go 3/4. If you go 100% you will always get more distortion throughout your volume range.
Turn gain to 0, turn volume to 3/4 then adjust gain till it distorts and then back of just a hair.

And select "AP"--All Pass.

This is what I was looking for, Thanks. Have it set to "all pass" and the gain at 5. I will probably let the speakers "break in" and adjust it again. I am very happy with the new system and the amount of money I spent. It is clear and loud and actually has some bass now. I would recommend this set up for the guy that wants a nice upgrade without killing the bank. Total cost $400.00 out the door, self installed.

Thanx to all! Good info; plan on an amp, speaker and head unit upgrade in near future;ntrying to do a little homework(for once!) ahead of time.

I'm saving up for that same setup. I needed to get shocks first though.

I am ok with using the AP setting but was wondering what the HP/LP actually did. Is this for using woofers and tweeters separately?

AP=all pass, LP low pass, HP high pass. It allows you to block some low/high frequencies, or AP allows all frequencies.
