Default 09 Electra glide, seat

I just got an 09 EG, and with the new frame etc. I know they sit a bit higher than previous ones.

Being short legged, I'm looking for recommendations for a aftermarket seat that sits lower but doesn't give up comfort....

If you want aftermarket it's hard to go past Mustang for quality and comfort, although there are others out there that are good too.

The 2010 OEM standard seat that replaced the 09 seat late in 09 was sold at a discount for 6 months-- I seem to recall $150 all up-- as there were some issues with the 09 seat being:

The pax portion of the seat was 'nose up' near the front of it which put unwanted pressure (or maybe wanted depending on who was onboard) on the pax crotch. I saw this on mine especially if there was a riders backrest in position.

After receiving many complaints the MoCo put out a new seat which retrofitted to 09 and was standard on 10's. It is identified by the embossed words "2010 LOW" on the seat pan. This seat removed the pax hump, and also dropped the seat around 1/2" in height, and as the thigh portion 'nose' of the seat was trimmed down so the riders legs were more straight to the ground.

I have one of these and it does help, but the 09 seat is more comfortable for the rider IMO than the 10 seat.

Very subjective topic depending on individual size/height/etc.

As stated above the '09 seat was wide compared to the older bikes. In mid-2010 HD changed the seat design; its marked "low" on the bottom and that will take care of the issue. You can find stock mid 2010 and up seats available really reasonably. I did that and sent it to Mean City Cycles for memory foam.. super comfortable and I'm in the whole deal for about $100 since I was able to sell my stock 2009 seat. Some taller guys tend to appreciate the stock 2009.

I have 5 seats, the original of coarse is no good for a passenger, and wasn't much good for me after 100 miles. The 2011 up Ultra seat is great, addressed a lot of issues, I just hate how it looks on my bike when I'm not using my tour pack. The Mustang is the one I love, I can ride all day, and if I want to ride somebody or use my tour pack, I attach the passenger pilon. MCC is a good and affordable solution also.

Another vote for the Sundowner.
There's generally one for sale in the classifieds periodically.

I had major surgery on 09 seat with double memory foam upgrade by MCC right after I got bike. The seat did seem a little wide but feels just right now after upgrade. Below is good thread on '09 seat innards with pictures.

p.s.

I should have mentioned in the first post, but I'm also interested in how the passenger comfort changed with any new/different seat.
