Default 150/80 16 Michelin Commander II on 2008

I just ordered this tire thinking it would fit because it is just a little wider than the 140. Has anyone done this and can confirm that there will be enough room. Or do I need to cancel it and get the 140?

Thanks

Do you have 5mm to spare on either side of your existing tire?

I have an Avon 150/80 in an 07 with room to spare. I am now looking at a 160/70x17 for my next tyre......

Have a 150/70 18 on the rear of my 08 SG with no issues. Current 150 Pirelli is wider than the 150 Metzelers that I had run before even tho they are both listed as 150s.

As long as the tire is no more than 6.125 inches wide it should fit.

I've been wondering the same thing.... I emailed Dennis Kirk, waiting to hear back.

Here is what they said.
"The 140/90-16 is 5.59" wide and the 150/80-16 is 5.91" wide. You'll need to measure to see if you have enough tire/swingarm clearance to use the wider tire."

Treat that info with caution! I have some experience of using alternative tyres and have found that when fitted to a wheel the actual width seldom corresponds to the width on the sidewall or in the brochure.

As one example my 140/90 Avon Venom claims to be 143mm wide, but measured 139mm. My 150/80 measured 153mm. That was their H speed rated version, but their V rated is quoted as being 157mm wide.

There is no certainty what the actual fitted width is, so keep a little in reserve when trying to squeeze in that even wider tyre!

I have a 160 on my 08 Street Glide. Fits just fine. So a 150 will for sure.

Mines an e3.
