$609 for 1 year over HD standard, $814 for 2 years over, $999 for 3 years over, $1,204 for 4 years over, and $1,494 for 5 years over. Those are only good for 90 days after purchase. After that it is an additional $150 the whole way up through the 2 year original warranty. Those values are for every bike except the sportsters, they are slightly cheaper.

It is way overpriced for most people that purchase it and quite a bargain for the few who end up needing it. The laws of insurance are at work.

Mine was about $2300.00 to $2400.00. I have the 5 year warranty over the Factory 2 year warranty. I have the tire and wheel coverage and the Services 1K through 10k included. I know I could have added more chrome of put a big bore kit, but I wanted the warranty.

Great subject with ambiguous answers to the main question - will basic mods void the warranty - yes or no??? And what happens if you are a DIY kinda guy???

Who in their right mind would take the time go back to a stock setup before servicing??? Who has done that??? Most dealers know what their customers have anyhow.

I bought my '05 Ultra 100% stock. EVERY SINGLE mod on this scoot was done by yours truly to save a few bucks and feel proud about it.

PCIII, self tweaked maps, Rush pipes, Fullsac duals, Stage 1 AC, K&N, SE plugs, RUB 2.5" lowering kit, oil gauge, air horn, siren system II, shorty antennas, MP3 player, speakers x4, wig wag brake lights, seat, backrest, relocated tourpack, chrome galore, clear and smoked lens, and numerous other add-ons....................

On April 23, 2007 I need to decide if I spring$1600 (sixteen hundred) for five more years of OEM warranty that I may not ever use.

You know, the biggest problem with this scoot to date over the last two years (10,000 miles) was the thumb volume **** on the left bank of controls - I lost that sucker three times ($8 a pop) and finally made up my own design with a set screw. The stealership dudes literally laughed at me when I claimed that should have be fixed under warranty.

So what do you guys think in this DIY case - yay or nay on the five year extended warranty???

i opted for the extended warranty mainly due to it covering wheels/tires (along with food/lodging/car reimbursement). also- if i bought the warranty, the dealer waived the 'set up' fee as well.

I passed on the opportunity to buy extended insurance on account of these new Harleys never break down as opposed the AMF scoots of yester year.

now that I think about, I'd have made a killing on the extended warranty if it had been available in 1976 for my AMFSporty.

REMEMBER: your extended warranty does not nor will not cover everything your factory warranty covers. It is limited to what it will cover.
