Default 2011 RKC Noise ""UPDATE""

Well I posted a few days ago about a lot of issues I had heard about the 2012 bikes. Well, guess it's payback time. My 11 RKC has developed a whirring noise in the left side of the bike. Sounds like a rubbing noise, kind of a woo, woo, woo noise and repeats. Thought they fixed it when they had the bike in earlier but it's back. This noise sounds like a whirring or rubbing noise. Had the service manager ride the bike yesterday and he heard the noise also. Basically it's there on deacceleration from around 50 mph down through 20 mph. Applying the brakes doesn't change the noise nor does pulling in the clutch. The only way he was able to make the noise go away was to turn off the bike, that one kinda threw me. It may have something to do with the load on the motor, possibly a compensator, I really don't know. This is the 3rd time I have had it in for this. Thankfully someone finally heard the noise besides me.

Did they pull the primary cover to check the nut torque on the compensator? Thats where i would have pressed them to start? Keep us posted we all need to be mindful if this creeps up in the future.

Yes, took it up there yesterday afternoon so he could ride it and verify the problem.

Just took the bike in late yesterday. I will definitely keep you guys updated. I'm just glad they didn't blow me off again.

Picked up the bike yesterday. Talked to the mechanic. He said the belt was too tight. Kinda funny that it was just there for 1k mile service. Noise is gone though.
