Default new adjustable push rod tubes almost impossible to get in - need a modification

I have some adjustable push rod tubes. Looks like the basic difference from stock is that the bottom section is shorter and the clip is longer. so overall they work and you can pop the clips, paper clip/rubber band the bottom tubes into position, and make adjustments. Problem is the clip is almot impossible to get back on. I can bench 260 lbs and I have to give it almost all the force I can summons using an empty bit screw driver handle to push on the spring cap and get the clip in. The amount of force needed seems excessive. right now, I have a small seep from my heads at the o ring of one tube. orings are new, but I'm thinking the spring tension is causing the oil ring to get deformed. So I'm thinking of either shortening the clip between 1/8th and 3/16th of an inch or cutting some rings off the spring. ANyone run into this and have a better fix? I double checked everything and the o rings are in the rignt position and the end tubes are properly in the center of their holes enough to have the friction from the oring keep them in place

I did my cams a couple of months ago and, even though it was hard, I managed to install the tubes with no problems. I used the Harley install tool. It was my first time doing this.

You have to make sure that the push rod and clip are seated correctly otherwise the clip does not fit. The hardest one to install was the rear cylinder inside tube, as I did not remove the air filter back plate.

I just did my cams last week. Had the same problem initially and found out the pushrod tube is not all the way up and seated. If you do that it is not nearly as hard.

Also, you could use the Fuel Moto trick, which is to put tape on the end of a flat blade screw driver and use the fins on your cyliders for leverage. There is a Youtube video of it. Very easy.

No need to reinvent the wheel, a thin flat blade screwdriver works EVERY time. Make the tubes are seated in the orings or you will tear them and have a leak!

I've seen the SE tool for pushrod clips, can't for the life of me understand how its supposed to work. The motion pro pliers type is crazy easy, but a little screwdriver is still the best tool, it travels with you easily. The problem with the.specialty tools is that they're in your toolbox, no help when you're out on the road and need to.adjust a pushrod.
