you have a warranty- just take it in.

if out of warranty- place tube socks over passing lights, put a thick towel on the fender

remove 3 screws and pull out windscreen.

replace center screw-loosely

remove 4 screws in inner fairing

figure out where you will put the fairing, like a blanket on the bench

go around to front of bike- hold fairing

remove center screw, fairing is now loose, pull back slowly, reach in and pull wire from headlight

Take to the dealer but wait till your first service!! By then you will have a list of things...
Now if you are **** and its driving you crazy then do it yourself...No biggie (really) or yes take to the dealer BUT dont give them an ear full as shiot happens! Save giving them grief over your bigger issues................o~`o.................

Last time mine was inside the dealership was in 07 with 3 miles on it. If you are at all confortable with a wrench there is not much to working it. Had the fairing off this morning to work on amp, nothing to it.

Unlike a street glide your fairing won't fall off when you take the screws out. Passing lamps hold it up nicely. Just don't forget to unplug headlight. The little reset button just pushes through hole and rubber boot screws on to hold it in place.

Good luck and have fun with your new toy

Like others have said, taking the fairing of is easy. I would use it as an excuse to install the garage door opener kit, well worth the time to install. Just toggle you high beam switch and the door automatically opens.

It doesn't hurt to put some old tube socks over the running lights before you start, it will keep you from scratching the fairing.

You'll need a T27 torx, I bought one like this from Sears, it's a lot easier to use than the fold up kind, especially for the bottom screws.

How often is the air temp gauge useful?

As often as I look at it, which is fairly often. Why?

No such thing as too much information. (don't bother to do the "it's not accurate" thing - I'll worry about that)

Air temp gauge is very close on Dad's UC, but my SG is not even in the ball park. If it's 90 mine says 120. Can't understand the differance, would like air temp guage if it was as accurate as his.
