Only had my Street Glide since the end of Feb. Longest trip I have taken so far was 800 miles and did 350 of it in one day. Still have the stock seat it wasn't too bad.

 

Had my seat modded by meancitycycles... best money I've spent so far on my bike.

 

OK, i have only a few hundred on my new SG but i didnt think the seat was that bad. But then again i am coming off of a RockerC with what i believe to be the most uncomfortable seat ever made by HD, so I think anything would feel good. Im sure i will change it out just so that my wife will be a little more comfortable on long hauls. Probably gonna go with the sundowner based off of other reviews.

 

I have a 2010 FLHX and I put a 2011 seat on it just to get down in the bike some more I'm 6'-2".When I get around to it I will send it off to meancitycycles to rework it and get me even lower. They have done a seat for me in the passed and that seat went from kill you to in all day.

 

I have used the stock seat for many long rides, 400 miles per day. For 2 up i have a sundowner. The wife is happy..so am I...

I recently bought a 2012 X stock seat, not for comfort but the 2010 stock puts a lot of pressure on the fender bolt. I have broke one of those already and missed a riding day.

I may keep the 2012 and see if MCC can raise me up and back. I really like the fit of the 2012 stock over the 2010 stock.

 

Very happy with my '08 seat.

 

The stock seat sucks for anything longer than 45 minutes. I use a Corbin Classic Solo and could not be happier. I would also highly suggust a backrest for a long trip.

Another thing you may want to consider is a higher windscreen and floor board extenders from harleygoodies.com. It will make the long trip that much more comfortable.

Have Mean City Cycles do the double memory foam on that 09 Ultra seat you have. You'll like it twice better. I put 4400 miles on my EG seat for a 2 week trip and no seat issues. I have a '08 Road Glide seat for local riding when my TP is off. I think the RG seat would be acceptable for long trips if I had the double memory foam upgrade done to it and it's nice looking seat.

 

Last year did 6400 miles in 14 days (3 of those days were in one place) on a stock '08 FLHTC seat and got a little butt burn toward the end of some of the hotter days (did not have my sheepskin with me). Previous long trips (i.e. Maine to Oregon and back in 15 days) were on a Mustang Seat and very pleased with that.
