Thinking of trading V&H Ovals for Monster slip-ons, need advice
#22
I've got an 08 Ultra, with stock pipes, fuel pak, stage 1, and Vance & Hines Oval slip-on mufflers. When I got the Ovals about 10,000 miles ago, they were exactly what I was looking for. Deep bass, nice tone, definitely will bark when getting on it. As warned originally, they do get louder over time.
Now that we are using the intercom system when we ride together, wife asked me to find something a shade quieter, but not to go back to stock quiet. I've been researching, trying to find something of the same tone, but not as loud. I'm leaning towards replacing them with the Monster Ovals or the Monster Rounds...but having trouble finding out if they would be a good replacement that after 10,000 miles on them, that they aren't going to get as loud as the Ovals that I have now.
For those that have had their Monster slip-ons on for a lot of miles now, how much louder do they get after time? Or, is there something else I should be looking at? I'd just replace the wife and keep my Ovals, but the fringe benefits are too good to consider that option.

Thanks for the time and effort to make a quality video. I have been looking at many youtube vids and most are of poor quality that make it impossibly to really know how a exhaust sounds like.

You might also consider just replacing the baffles with a quieter design, Fuel Moto offers their Dyno Tuned as a baffle kit.

I'm considering trying the quiet baffles. I hear it is a little lower in db and helps with the tone as well.
