Garmin 665 with XM weather
#21
I've had a 665 on my Ultra-Classic for a year with zero problems. It's pricey but it does a LOT of things.
- GPS
- Navigation
- Routing (create routes on PC and load on GPS)
- Point-of-Interest lookup
- XM Music & News
- XM Weather
- XM Traffic
- MP3 Player (I have 1700 songs on mine with lots of room for more)
- Bluetooth phone interface (I can use my DroidX through my helmet headset)
- Calculator (useful for calculating miles-per-gallon)
It's nice that the 665 comes with a mount for the bike and a mount for the automobile, along with a cigarette-lighter adapter.
I guess you can see that I love my 665.

i have had a garmin 660 and now have a roadtech 665. Harley has a two year warranty and garmin 1 year. You can not use a garmin unit with the nim and the harley unit can be had for 20 percent off at some online dealers. I use a volume booster called boostaroo by upbeat audio, works good for boosting volume, Garmin had a software update for mor volume but not enough for me. Mike

Never in two seasons had any "glitches" it locked up on me once but just had to turn it off and on.
Coming back from Sturgis last year started out beautiful came through the Bad Lands and the "Lady" said there was rain in the area thought she was nuts til I checked the radar and saw the mother of all fronts coming up my butt. Had about 400 miles to my hotel in Brandon, SD that front was behind me the whole way. About 30 minutes after I pull in a coupla semis had been blown off the road by the winds. ...that and I like Howard Stern.

Do you have to be listening to the WB to get the alerts?
660 has lane assist. I had no desire to pay a monthly fee for XM, etc. The WB on HK unit has saved my hide more than once as I dodged tornados in the midwest - so it has proven it's worth - Hint: When the WB says "seek shelter immediately" pay attention, they ain't kidding.

Bluetooth headsets work with the Zumo and it is in stereo. The mount also has a jack on the left side for earbuds.

I was referring to the WB on the factory stereo. So yes, you have to be listening to it in order to hear it. As I previously posted, I don't have the 665, I have the 660, so am not familiar with the weather alerts via XM and how they work. I would hope it is smart enough to interrupt whatever you are listening to when it wants to alert you of impending doom.

will the weather, xm, and music work also????....also does the bluetooth headset work directly with the zumo or do you need to have it work through the phone???

Bluetooth connected to GPS and you can hear everything from the GPS (XM, MP3's, and directions) You connect to phone to the GPS via Bluetooth and you will be able to hear that as well, and if headset has a mic talk to them. The 665 has a weather map and pop ups for weather in the area. When I riding once it warned me of wet roads in the area. I used the 550 on my wide glide with ear buds and loved it. The 550 did not have the new stereo capable Bluetooth.
