Default Transmission gear lube weight question

I just had the 1st service completed on my SG. The dealer sells amsoil products so I had them put in the 20w-50 in the engine and primary and they recommended the severe gear 75w-90 for the transmission. I went with their recommendation.

Well I made the mistake of reading on this forum and from what I am reading it looks like the 75w-90 is to light for our transmissions. I called the dealer and they advised they have been using that weight for years including all of the tech's personal bikes with no issues.

I have about 300 miles on her and to be honest its shifts great with no clunk and I can find neutral without any issue, much better then the stock HD stuff. I guess what I'm asking should I change it out for a heaver weight or am I good to go, I don't want any long term damage done to my tranny.

If I search anymore my head is going to blow up.....

75-90 is fine.
Some of use run 75-140 but it is not big deal.
There are those that run 20/50 engine oil not much difference there either Engine oil and lubes are rated different they come out close in the end.

Exactly!

Oil threads (engine, tranny, and primary) will always boil down to personal preference.
You'll probably find just as many say they would never use that, as you will find people with no issues.

My opinion is you'll be fine with the Amsoil 75w-90.

I used to put a catch pan under the neighbors tractor and use that, no problems....lol.
Now I use Pepto-Bismo.

I am considering Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W-90 for my transmission.
