For those of you who have done this trip a couple of times - where do you suggest to stay that puts you more into the mix of all the other roads? We stayed right next to Dollywood in some cabins there last year when we did this trip - which puts us on the North West side of the Dragon. We want to do this trip again but... - what are some places to stay where you can enjoy all those roads mentioned but being more of in the middle of it all. No need for the Dragon on our next trip as that has been crossed off the bucket list. Would like the cabin experience again over a hotel/motel thing.

check out jonathan creek inn and villas in Maggie Valley, NC.. They have cabins/ houses on the creek across from there motel. Some have garages to get rides out of the weather. You are right in the middle of some great roads. 276, 215, Blue Ridge Parkway, 209, 63, 151. Also - A Holiday Motel- is a great motorcycle friendly place. A great little town with a gateway to some great roads.
