Default No warranty

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies, looks like the warranty thing ain't gonna happen. I got a quote this morning from my dealer for right around $1200 for upgrade including 204 cams. I am checking pricing with some online guys to see how much it's gonna cost me to do it. I'm sure I'll be back in asking questions in the next couple of days.

Yeah that's what it's looking like to me, did you buy all those special bearing tools or just make do with what you had to do with like us good ole boy shade tree guys generally do? Did you put the gear cams in or go back with hydraulics? Sounds like gears would be my choice but seems like it may be a little more cost. Best I understand I wouldn't have to buy a new cam support plate with the gear cams though.

I pulled the cover on my RK 2 weeks ago and the tensioners are done as well. The bike just turned 50k recently. They aren't as bad as what you described yours to be, they are just worn down pretty thin but still have a small amount of material left. Not touching any metal yet.

I was throwing around the idea of what to do as well. My yearly mod (swing-arm upgrade) was already done and funds depleted. I even bought the tensioners at the dealer with gaskets etc.. but after rethinking it over too many times, I took them back and ordered the S&S 510G kit through my parts guy. IMO its the better way to go since this kit is bolt in and it eliminates those tensioners for good. My other choice is replace tensioners with new or improved ones or the hydro upgrade which is somewhere like 500-600 and that's with no cams or anything.

And that's how I talked myself into the 510G kit.

That's what I did when I put cams and gear drive in my 88 inch Duece. I made a tool to remove the inner bearings out of an old autobody slide hammer and used the old cam for installation. I did have a press available for the outer bearings.

With the cranks of the twin cam engines I would much rather have the new hydro setup , gears are nice but you hit a big chuck hole, or something , and the crank moves you can eat the gears up.
