Default What lifters should I use?

Getting ready to replace the HD OEM lifters in my 09 Ultra.
I'm running a bolt in S&S cam with moderate lift, which I think has started to work the HD OEM lifters over the edge at around 30k klicks, as I'm starting to hear increased noise from the valve train at idle/low revs with the 'normal' lower oil pressure at idle.
At operating revs when oil pressure is ~32psi the valve train sounds better eg my thinking is towards the lifters weakening.

Given that there is considerable discussion regarding quality lifters, I'm thinking either S&S or Woods Directionals at the moment.

Feedback appreciated from those who have changed lifters in regards to what ones did you use and why.

Well I am still in shock at how little noise I have from my Johnson V-lift Hylift lifters. I paid $109 for a set of 4, running woods TW6 cams. Which is actually a well known noisy cam.

While your in there might as well change out the pushrods, The S&S quickee pushrods allow you to install without removing the tappet covers. Saves some time pulling the tappet covers plus getting the pushrods set to zero lash is a lot faster.

Thanks TO34 - I changed out the pushrods for SE tapered adjustable when I installed the S&S 551 cams.

I'll do a look up on the Johnsons-- those S&S and Woods lifters are a bit pricey!

I just put the tw-777 and the woods directional lifters, S.E adj pushrods in, and when it first fired up it was a little noisy, but after they got a few miles on they mellowed out. But damm are they the bomb!

Feuling's are better made, or the design is better than are HQ's and not just IMO either, FWIW.

We built tons of big inch big hp motors with HQ lifters, never had a problem with them.
