>Sounds familiar, I had a Road King and loved it, but my wife did not feel secure even with a backrest

yup - depends on your missus. We're "anything's a bonus after a Sportster" comfy with a Road King Custom with tour pack.

I was on a Harley before I was born. My dad used to flat track race and hillclimb on them. I ride a Ultra. It has stage one kit plus screaming eagle cams in it. It rides very very smooth and I can keep up with anybody, usually they have a hard time keeping up with me. I have done 6 iron butt rides on it. Fastest was 1100 miles in 17 hours with only 8 stops for gas. for me the Ultra is the only way to go!!

If this guy's wife loves the Ultra let the guy run with it......dont mess with his mind....."baby I got this bike for you, I know you love it".....geez....you know how much better his trip will be if every night he reminds her of it......

Rented an 11 SG in TN when I visited my son (it's was the only one left). After a weekend of cruise control, tunes, and just the way the bike rode I then knew my HD would be a touring model. When I showed the OL the UC and told her how comfortable she would be, the deal was sealed. Now I hear, how about this for the bike. Gotta love it.

I bought an '11 Road Glide Custom last year. Realized I would be doing longer trips. The thinner seat, the wind and the slammed suspension was killing my old bones. Traded it for a '12 CVO Ultra Classic. Wow. What a difference in comfort, wind protection and let alone all the amenities you need for long trips. My opinion, if you have a way to go, go top drawer.

Streetglide is the answer with plenty of room for you & your wife + clothes & what not & a good ride too.
