Default Installing Grips on TBW

Going to be helping a friend put some after market grips on his 2012 RGC. I have never installed grips on a TBW and looking for a few pointers on how it's done. Thanks!!

Throttle side grip: remove two screws and split the switch housing and slide grip off. Slide the new grip on and spin it until you feel it set into the notch of the TBW sensor. Same for clutch side with the exception of "slide grip off". This side is glued on. Grab and twist HARD with the switch housing off. It will come off. If you don't want to save it just cut it lengthwise with a razor knife and peel it off.
Note: if there is a pattern to the grips put the TBW grip on first and line up the pattern on the clutch side with the throttle side (i.e. flame pattern).

Don't forget to put your cardboard spacer in your front brake lever before you start on the right side!

Awesome! Thanks everyone!! He has the service manual but I won't see it until he comes over next weekend. Sounds like the throttle side is easier than cables!

There is a good chance you will need to loosen and move the master cylinder bracket on the throttle side a bit. The grip pulls out much easier if you do.

Put the spacer between the brake lever and perch to keep it slightly pulled, or it can break the brake light switch in the switch housing when you reassymble the housing. It should be covered in the manual and instructions with the grips. My nostalgic grips came with a spacer.

Actually, I think you want to mount the clutch side first since it only goes on one way. Then mount the throttle side since the splines on the TBW allow you to match the orientation of the clutch side.

The clutch side is glued on so it can be spun to any orientation you may want. How does it only go on one way?

On edit: I should add that my grips were Kury's and the clutch side did not have just one way to go one. Other brands/types may vary.
