I have had both the monotubes and the ricors. The Ricors are in my bike now. If your low on cash try changing your fork fluid to a the heavier fluid. It should be changed ever year.

Were the Monotubes quite harsh and stiff sporacer? Also, were any adjustments or mods needed when installing the Ricors?

Setting up the Ricors require trimming the spacer tube to get the correct sag. They add about 5/8" of preload, which can be countered by removing 5/8" off the spacer (approx)
I found I could add a bit more sag on the front end (1/2") than when I had springs only, as the front end doesn't blow thru the travel so easy.
I went from about 25% sag to about 33 % sag.
