Sorry if I have offended you HOG-DOC, It's just a name. My local DEALER has done ok by me for the most part, I did have to wait for aprox 3 weeks for some warranty work to be done due to their poor scheduling of repairs. (verify the bad part a rear brake line, order said part then put me at the end of the line when the part came in)Then they charged me for something I thought should have been covered under Extended Warranty(fuel guage not reading correctly). And yes they have the special tools to do the job correctly that's why they are in business doing repairs. Do I mind paying the $40, it really doesn't matter because it's one of those things that has to be done or go out and buy the tools to do it myself.. I would but it's not in my budget right now..
The fact that YOU think something should have been covered by ESP doesnt make it so and the dealer has no control what ESP covers, its an insurance company not related to the dealer and they dont cover adjustments, wear items, maintenance items or parts that havent failed!

My brother is machinist and we successfully designed and made a tool to pull the tensioners without pulling the cams. I showed the Harley shop and they said it was sick and almost crapped when I showed them. they also said we need to sell the tool to Jims. I just finished my bike and the hardest part was pulling the exhaust. Tensioners cost me $55 each and the exhaust manifold gaskets, fuel pump and camplate o-rings and cam cover gasket were cheep. SE adjustable pushrods were 145.00 so that was the biggest investment.

Using the term stealer has just become a habit for most of us. As far as the issue, I know you said money was an issue but if you were to go with gear driven cams you would eliminate the need for cam chain tensioners.
