AAA RV Plus. If you have a car, a truck, RV, camper trailer, boat trailer and a motorcycle, this seems a good way to go. Used it twice for non motorcycle. Both times tow driver was well prepared for vehicle in question including the trailer. 100 mile plus really paid off as well.

If I just owned a motorcycle, HOG would look better.

Added: While my regular insurance policy covers towing, you have to pay up front and will get re-imbursed. Advantage of AAA or HOG is that it costs you nothing out of pocket. Just call, wait 45 minutes and get taken where you want to go. Also, both times I used it I was more than 15-25 miles from home. AAA 100 mile plus really paid off both those times. Not that my insurance would not have covered it, but that I did not have to worry about it. Just call, tell them where I want to take the breakdown and sit back and enjoy the ride. Getting back close to home made my life a lot easier. First was a head gasket that let go, second was a transmission fluid failure after traveling multiple back to back 500 mile days in 110+F temperatures.

The website says tow coverage is limited to 1st 35 miles after which you will pick up the tab. I think thats a bit on the weak side no?

I have Coach-Net that I had gotten with my RV, it has coverage in any personal vehicle, including motorcycles- owned, rented or borrowed. It includes Unlimited Towing, Jump Starts, Lock-outs, Tire Assistance, Fuel Delivery.

Had a tire blow out on the RV on I-10 halfway between San Antonia and Houston, hour and fifteen minutes later the tire was changed and I was back on the road.

I have HOG and AAA RV Plus. My son was riding with a friend whose bike broke down. He called AAA and friends bike was towed on my policy for free.

But, I would caution everyone on AAA RV plus when it comes to trailers. This winter I called them to fix a flat on my snowmobile trailer. I was informed that my snowmobile trailer is not a recreational trailer. Turns our the policy on trailers and what is covered changes by the state you live in. So, only my camper would be covered, not the snowmobile trailer I pull 5 hours away several trips in a season, or the utility trailer I use to move my college kids from schools 4-6 hours away from home. For even more money I could add these trailers to my policy.

So - read the fine print before you spend the money.

Default Towing

This last weekend, I had a blowout 65 miles from a dealer. I called HOG and they were really great, but would only pay $100. The cost to tow to the dealer was going to be $475, which really seemed steep to me.

The first thing I did when I got home was research towing insurance. I went with Progressive. They've got two levels. For $10 a year they'll get it towed to the closest dealer at no cost to me and for $15 a year they'll put me up in a hotel if needed.

I put on 30K miles a year, so I went for the $15 one.

I am a Life HOG Member. But I have the Premier RV/Motorcycle Membership with AAA.
I can get up to 3 tows per year. One 200 mile tow and 2 100 mile tows.
I am covered for Unlock of any vehicle and my home.
Gas delivery of 5 gallons at no charge for fuel.
I have used the tow for my motorcycle three times in the last 10 years.
A Flat bed truck was always sent. I had one tow of my truck and 5th wheel trailer towed 145 miles.

I pay $145 per year for myself on this package. I have not counted the maps, DMV and travel service or AAA discounts I can receive.

HOG gives me a 17% discount on my ATT Cell Phone.

Just get what you feel best.

HOG only tows to a dealer. AAA will tow to your house - where you can fix your bike without paying those crazy dealership prices!

Have never had AAA, but I had an issue with my RKC battery crapping out when it was about 3 months old (dead cell). Called HOG and found out they were closed and couldn't help me until the following day. Called Foremost Insurance (towing included) and the roll-back showed up within about 30 minutes and that was on a military base. Watched the driver take his time and load it onto his truck and properly tie it down before taking it to my HD dealer.
