HOG, AAA, and Allstate for motorcycle policy here.
a friend in a MC works even better. They show up quicker with a trailer and transportation if its not fixable then and there.

Check you insurance policy. Like mine, it covers towing. Also have HOG as a back up. Never had to use either so I can't compare.

I have GEICO, and I called them and they sent a flat bed that had the straps when my secondary belt snapped. I didn't have to pay any out of pocket and they told me I get one tow per breakdown as long as I can show them a receipt of repair they will reset the clock.

Depends on where you ride. I'm going up The Haul Road this summer so I was VERY interested in the towing limits. Hands down it was the HOG upgrade for only $19.95 which covers unlimited towing to the nearest dealer.

I called and confirmed with their customer service that if I was stranded in Deadhorse, AK and the nearest dealer was 450 miles away in Fairbanks, they would come get me and it would be covered. FWIW, if you had to pay out of pocket, it's a $1,000 call-out charge and $5/mile otherwise (which is round trip for the nearest tow service!). Bike would be staying in Deadhorse <lol>

RV Roadhelp through the Allstate Motor Club was the next closest - same coverage but $100/year. The advantage here is that they cover all your vehicles for that price, HOG is only your Harley.

AAA (which I have for the cars) had dollar and distance limits, and State Farm won't cover motorcycle tows at all. Out west, here, it would be very easy to be beyond any dollar/distance limits to nearest motorcycle service, so anything but an Unlimited policy is worthless. Only HOG and RV Roadhelp seemed to offer those.

As a Life Member of HOG, my deluxe coverage only costs $19.95 per year. I, luckily, have only needed to be towed to the nearest dealer one time. When it happened, the service which we received was excellent. We were on the Newburgh- Beacon Bridge on I-84 NY at rush hour. The dealer showed up with fresh fruit and water because he knew that we were hot and tired. They took us back to the shop in Newburgh NY. Because they knew we were on the road, the crew stayed overtime to fix the bike and got us back on the road that evening. Do I buy Road America Deluxe coverage every year? You Betcha!!

Anyone have any experience with Progressive Ins ? I use them for my M/C insurance.
They have a roadside assistance package you can add to your policy that only costs about $10 year. They have an 800 number if you need them. I havent had to use it but was wondering if anyone else has.

I am an AMA member with this service and I think it's definitely the way to go. I am also a HOG member, but for other reasons.
