Default Help with wind screen on my new Road King

Brought the new King home yesterday and my son wanted to see it without the windscreen on. It came off just fine but now we cannot get it on properly. It seems to fit in place but is loose in the upper gromets. I don't recall it being like this, you can easily move it forward and backward. It does not seem to "lock" into place. The manual is not at all helpful!
Some help would be appreciated..
Thanks

If it's on the lower grommets correctly & slides onto the upper grommets it should be fine. Remember, the wind only pushes it on tighter.

Just make sure it it is seated all the way in the lower grommets. Its only a friction hold so the shield does not "lock" in place.

When I place my shield on I make sure the bottoms are centered on the grommets and press down to be sure they are seated. Then when lining up the top I have to put my fingers on the edge of the shield pulling while my thumbs are pressing on the stainless in order to slightly spread the frame so it too centers on the grommets. Then press and I can feel the top snug into place.

Almost forgot....You may have to lift the wire things to allow them to go over top of grommets.

Thanks, everything lines up on the lower and upper gromets, it just feels really loose at the top gromets. We screwed around with it enough that I can't think there is any other way it would fit on. Hmm, seems like it would wobble going over any kind of bump, I guess I could give it a try hope it stays put.

If it's on all four posts, it will be fine.

Once the lower brackets are in their grooves place your hands at 9 and 3 o'clock at the chrome band that crosses the front of your screen. Ensure the top brackets line up in the grooves of the upper grommets and then apply pressure until they pop into place. It should be a firm fit- you should not feel any wobbling. If it wobbles as you describe it is not on correctly.

If it wobbles it's not on right, should be tight and if you look close enough you should be able to see if its seated correctly. I have no play at all on mine and to the unknowing you wouldn't know it could off as easy as it does.

It should have "wireform" latch springs at each upper grommet that lock it in place. At least my '07 detachable shield has them.

Here are the instructions for my '07:

1. Standing at the front of the motorcycle, carefully insert the windshield brackets between the headlamp nacelle and the auxiliary lamp bracket. Lower the windshield into position until the lower notches on the windshield bracket are seated on the lower grommets.

2. Gently push the top of the windshield toward the rear until the upper notches fully engage the upper grommets.

3. Push down on the wireform latch springs so that they overhang the rubber grommets. If some adjustment is necessary, loosen the retaining screws and rotate the latch springs into the proper position.
