Default interesting brake switch recall info...

I took my 11 flhrc in for the brake switch recall and on the way to the dealer the abs light came on....when I dropped it off the guy at the service desk said they had not seen any actually be bad, and hd just were doing the recalls as a precaution ....I told him to go ahead and check the abs light since it was there....when I came back (an hour later) he said that the brake switch must have just failed on the way there and had sent 14 codes that needed to be cleared (I must have used the rear brake 14 times on the way to the dealer)....the mech. said it all tested good now and the problem was the failed switch....talking about dumb luck...and a free fix to boot..I think that was the first time (and probably the last) time I got something free from the dealer....on the one hand I am somewhat peeved it needed to be done..but on the other hand it all turned out good in the end...

Mine failed...I lost my brake lights (Which I did not know, someone had to tell me,) and my cruise control would not disengage- scary- with my rear brake pedal. I had to turn the switch off.

I took my bike in last night to get the radio flashed for fader control, and the service guy reminded me that my recall still needed to be done. I had completely forgotten about that. Something that will have to happen in the very near future.

It affects at least back to 2009 as my SIL's bike had to be done also.

I took mine in when they first announced the recall. Had not had any problems. They replaced it with the "better" switch. 1 week later it failed. They replaced on "better" switch with another. No problems out of the 3rd switch for a few months now.
