already own a sert....best option for tuning near chicago?
i have tuned lots of cars, but i don't have the time or the drive to mess with my bike.
I added some s&s 551 cams, and id like to have the bike tuned. however, I dont trust my local dealer to do it again, and the next closest dealer quoted me 350 to tune it.
I know the pcv might be better, but does anyone know of anyone reputable in the chicago area that can tune using the sert? I just hate to spend another 300 on the pcv when i've already dumped money into the sert!
any ideas?
thanks!!

I also have the SERT on my FLHX and I just went to true duals. After weeks of research I came up with this:
-The dealer wanted $350 min to re-tune a SERT that was already paid for. Then I'm back where I started, stuck with that tune, so the next time I change anything...another $350
-The PCV sounded good until I found out that the SERT needs to be removed first. So I called the dealer and they said they needed $150 to remove something that was already paid for. Total $450. Starting to see a pattern?
-The Power Vision has all the benifits of the PCV and then some for $500 and can remove the SERT from the ECM itself. It also can hold six tunes and won't cost you too retune if you change something.
I was a believer that the SERT was a superior product, but looking through my crystal ball all I saw was empty pockets! With the PV I see the the most money spent now but the least wasted and the most saved in the long run. I don't like paying for a product that I already paid for.
Long story short, I ordered my PV from Fuel Moto today!
Hope this helps,
Nick

The SERT isn't a piggyback tuner so, there's nothing to "remove". If you've tuned a modern EFI system before, it should be pretty easy to tune your bike.
I just picked up the cable kit and software for my SERT and after a quick look, it reminds me of HP Tuner for GM LSX motors. The one cool feature it has is "smart tune" where based on some data logging sessions, it takes your VE data and builds the tune somewhat automatically. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Cables, program disc, a laptop AND patience to learn how to do it yourself (yes it takes time). Some people give up and get it dyno tuned. If you do have patience, you learn so much about how your ECM works.
As for removing the SE Pro before PV use, my guess, you have to have the dealer reflash the ECM back to stock, that is where the $150 comes from. TTS, you save your stock map (as with PV) and you can flash it back to stock anytime, SE Pro, it's gone once you flash a map from the SE Pro catalog.

The only Chicago area tuner that is really god is Jim Egizio. He tuned my Deluxe and it was perfect. He is at Illinois Harley......they are currently in Berwyn, but moving to Countryside....

I was going to use him for my Street Glide, but I wanted to try the Fuel Moto/Power Vision route.

Rich67 nailed it...Valley Racing in Beecher...708-946-1440. I'm from southern Illinois and use these guys. Very few independents (that i've found) will tune/are able to tune SERT... I have no experience with Jim at IL HD, and I'm sure does an excellent job...just relaying my experience with Valley.
