Tinted shield for a RK?
Hi All,
What are your thoughts on dark tinted windshields for a road king? Looking at the LRS but cant decide on why I would want a dark or medium tint (even though I want a dark or medium tint). Any advantage? I mean, the sun is never setting below my bike so I dont need it for that. If there is a glare, I have sunglasses. Is it just for looks?

I have "darked out" lenses and would like a windshield that lends to this look as well.
I just havn't found a windshield in the stock size that's tinted.

It's all looks. I absolutely love the dark tint. I ride with a 19" dark on my King. I have no issues at all with it in the daylight. Night can have its moments. For the majority, you are looking over it, but no matter what, you have to look through it from time to time. I've had maybe 2 incidents that I was looking through it, and needed to see better right NOW. I just stood up on the bike to see further over it. Pain in the AZZ, yes. Dangerous, maybe. But I love how it looks.

If you're talking stock RK size, we have it. It's a 21", which may be slightly off the mark, as we measure from the top of the headlight up to the top of the shield and you lose that gap in between the headlight and the headlight cutout of the shield. Plus with the flip up, you may be able to go lower anyway. Have them on sale right now. 25% off. Can't beat that.

I like the old school shields that are tinted at the bottom. I looked into having a window tint applied and apparently this can only be done on windshield glass. I looked into spray-on tint and this did not have rave reviews so I just painted the inside bottom of my stock shield with gloss black Testors model spray paint:
