Ummmm... I'm thinking I read somewhere not too long ago that a stolen iPhone can be traced via gps, if it's turned on. You might check into it. I'll try to find where I read it.
It's possible if a subpoena is issued or the owner (after proven) requests it. Except that an Iphone barely last a half day before needing recharging. After six days, its battery is surely dead.

The guy said iPod, not iPhone. If it's a classic iPod, you can kiss it goodbye…if it's an iPod Touch, and you had enabled the "find my iPod touch" function on it, you could sign on to iCloud, and pinpoint exactly where it is on a map, thanks to GPS.
