Kickstand angle/position on Road King
#12
The kickstand on my Road King has me wondering if it's set correctly. I'm used to the kickstand point of contact with the surface being further forward than where it currently is on my bike. I keep thinking the bike is just going to roll forward and fall over. Attached is a pic. Is this normal?

Wow, that does look like it's too far back. I agree, I would look at it too. Something just don't look natural. Lol! My RK seems a little too far back too but not as far as that. I've grown accustomed to leaving it in gear like the other posters suggested.

Is your bike a 2009? This is a HD Service Bulletin from 2009.

Touring Model Jiffy Stand Bracket Lean Angles.
If you have a very early production date (June or July) on your 09 Touring Bike you probably have the wrong
Jiffy Stand on it. You will likely know since the bike will be harder to upright since it leans too far to the left.

Hey all, thanks for the replies. Rollamo, I did exactly as you mentioned and the kickstand stayed in place as I rolled the RK forward. So it's locked in place.
I have always put my bike in neutral before shutting it off, but leaving it in 1st gear sounds like a good idea. I got off the bike at a gas station a few weeks ago and it rolled forward (kickstand dragging) a few inches because of a slight decline. Definitely got my attention.
Bingee, it's a 2004 RK. Btw, my friend has a 2007 Heritage Softail and his kickstand is slightly forward of 90 degrees. So I'm still wondering if my kickstand got bent back by the previous owner.
