Yes happened to me The nut is held in place with ears. In my case the ear broke off. its not a big deal just a pain in the ***. If you have a parts book for your bike the picture of the nut and its behind the chrome piece fits into the square hole. Go to the dealer buy a couple of the nuts and ask for a print out of the page with the schematic of the nut and chrome strip I cant remember the correct name of the Chrome #$@%. just take your time. If you want Pm me I'll walk you through it.I looked it up you need a clip nut part# 7490. Chrome piece is called support bracket. Clip nut goes behind support bracket. I had to take off the support bracket in my case. Not a big deal. just took some time. On the plus side was able to clean and wax under the bracket. There were some spacers in my case just took my time. All went back togeather nice. Have fun.

You should always wear something under your chaps. I learned the hard way and nearly ran over myself

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to edit or re-word the titles for these threads?

Well I bought the nut and was easily able to get the nut into place with a telescoping magnet, Finger tightened it and then was able to tighten it down with a ratchet. If that did not work I was going to a buddies with a air ratchet. But a lot easier than taking it apart. And got my bags pretty straight. Still a lil tweaking on other side now.

Doesn't it suck when people don't take your problem seriously? I've had the same thing and just make sure you push it back in B4. you zip up.

Glad it all worked out for you. Now let me get this straight.....if I lose a nut I can get a Harley one to replace it? Is is an original USA part like my other one, or is it made in China?

As with most parts, price will vary according to color. I hear the black ones are bigger and therefore probably a little more money.

Is a regular nut sitting in a inside a bracket that clips to the fender support. It cost a buck

Yup, just broke off both of my rear clipnuts, what a PITA!
Looks like I'm off to the shop, 60 miles for a $1 nut! dammit.
It looks like it could be put in from the outside? Mine looked like it might fit in that way.
Also those 2 bolts on the top of the support bracket are a PITA also.
They almost look like one time use bolts, the threads at the end are tapered, and have a cut in them, so when I try to reuse them, one of them won't start, like it's stripped.
Hope I didn't screw up that nut behind there, or it looks like I will have to take there whole dam thing apart! What a PITA just to take out some spacers!
