Default Police Electra Glide

I was wondering if anyone has purchased one from an auction or even new?
I've seen a few of them on ebay lately. The all black with no stripes or stickers looks pretty hot. Plus, they have the blk/chr motor. As much as I'd like a new 07, it's not in the cards at the moment. As we all know, the value of used Harley's has dropped. The resale value of my 00 Heritage has just tanked. I was hoping for 16 and some change for it, but I'm seeing them for high 12's, low 13's. I can't take a hit like that right now, just to upgrade. I need to make it close to a wash. I have noticed the RS value of the EG Standard hasdropped also, probably due to the Street Glide being so popular (with good reason) so that may be my option. I just thought the Police Motor looked pretty good.

Thank you,

John

I've had 3, all FLHP's (Road Kings, windshield not fairing) and all bought new. An '02 I put 48,000 on, an '05 which I still have and is for sale, and an '07 which I got in Sept. I do a lot of touring being semi-retired and the police air seat is the most comfortable thing I've ever ridden. I wanted the cast wheels in case of a flat I could squirt some of that stuff into to at least get it off the interstate so the police bike was perfect for me.Here's the '05.

I have a 2000 FLHTPI that was retired from a police force after two years with 7000 miles on it . I now have 50,000 with no real poblems. I bought mine because I liked the clean look with no badges or stickers and the black and chrome motor. The bike is black also and looks nice with that combination. Also the price is usually good on the cop bikes.

off topic but are the crash bars different on a FLHTP vs. a FLHT?

Wait till the 07 police bikes come off lease with the factory 103 engines stock!

BTW I have a retired 03 FLHTPI I got with 4K on the clock and love it.

That is what I plan on doing. There will be 7 of em being turned in next spring (08). Best part is, I know all the guys in the cycle unit, and will be able to determine which of the 7 has probably been the best taken care of.

Only down side I see to buying a used Police bike is clutch wear above what is "normal" for one year of riding, and brake pads being worn out before their time. Our bikes will be used in May for a Police Cycle Cert Course, so they will be down quite a bit, but the guys are usually real **** about wrapping the engine/saddlebag guards in rubber, to prevent scrapes and gouges.

Wow !!! Thank you (as always) for the input. I will look into this further. Nice thought on that 103" !! I knew this year came w/that. Seriously I'm thinking 02-04.

How much were you asking for that Police Road King? I'm just curious. I am leaning towards the Electra Glide version.

The Motor Officers here in San Jose just started back on Harley's after years (decades) on KZ1000's. Looks good !!! Damn good. . . After seeing them on that japscrap for so many years. Saw em at a Shark's game all lined up in front of the Arena. Impressive, Most Impressive.

If you can track the life of a police bike it helps. I have watched how our spare bikes were treated----Very Well I remember one year when one spare was returned with only 120-200 miles and another one with less than 1000 miles. You have to really watch some of the stealers. My buddy wrecked one of the Road Kings and they replaced the frame and several other items but engine and tranny were still the same on a 4500 mile bike and the stealer was asking 17,500 this was 4 or 5 years ago. As far as clutches after a motor school all of ours are serviced by the dealer and should be in good shape.
