Out of eight harleys I've owned since 2003, five have been baggers and the other three were softails, nightrain, heritage sprnger and fatboy. Baggers and Softails are like comparing apples to oranges. Both are awesome bikes, just depends on what you like. If you can afford to have both, you enjoy the Fatboy for runnig around on short trips and the bagger for a more functional bike with storage. I just bought an 04 Ultra with 1500 miles over a 2012. Saved me $10K easy and I plan to get another heritage sprnger or fatboy in the near future for a second bike. Two bikes is always better than one... Bottom line is get what you can afford. Keep in mind that the fatboy changed to the current configuration in 2007, so you probably can find a much better deal on an older model (same configuration) with low miles and keep the Ultra. If you're planning to purchase your second bike from the dealer, I would seriously look at the private sector before pulling the trigger so you don't get screwed 7 ways from sunday. Good Luck!

I agree.

A Dyna would be much more nimble and easier to ride around town than a Fat Boy.

That's why I ended up getting my little Ducati.

I was actually looking at getting a Nightster at first, but went WAY smaller with the Monster after riding a friend's and finding the first sportbike I actually liked.

But I totally think a Fatboy would be a great alternative as well. It's only 100 lighter than a Streetglide, but I can move the wife's bike around a LOT easier.

I have had sportsters, softails, dynas and now a roadking.....the sportys are the nimblest of the bunch but the softails are the stablest of the bunch, they are rock steady in the curves and with the low center of gravity they handle great,,you can't flip them from side to side like a sporty, but they are the closest you can get.....I miss my softail and if I didn't already have 2 bikes i would buy another in a second...

If I could afford it and wanted a scoot for running around town, it would definitely be a Rocker C.

Nothwithstanding what everyone else has said, it sounds like the Fatboy is what you have available to you. They are great bikes for around town and have a nice low seat height. The Fatboy also is a bike that is fairly saleable if you wanted to rid of it. I don't think you would be dissapointed. H-D also has brought some of the pre 2007 logos back to the newer Fatboys, which is a plus to me as well.
