Rider here.

Almost all customizations I do is for riding comfort, and performance enhancements. There are a few little pieces that are just decorative, but not much. Between the 2 bikes, I ride over 20,000 miles a year.

Only times my bike has been on a trailer was when it was broke down....Trailers are for BOATS!!!

I have been down the coustomizing road with my old LowRider, to much MONEY.

Now comfort is king, and trailers are for camping.

So many labels....labels = status?

I do both. Mods not only that I like to look at, but that I can use to be more comfortable.

Everything from bars to stereos to seats, I've made my mark on it all. In the end, it's my *** in the saddle, and I can tell you one thing, I'll ride either one all day long, day after day.

I've added items for comfort, organizers and storage. A couple cosmetics.
I haven't done anything to improve performance (stock exhaust and A/C).
I don't travel much (2-5 weekends a year) but commute 40 miles to work and often 80-100 miles home.

I won't own one but do appreciate show bikes (craftsmanship first, style second and ride-ability a distant 3rd).

Funny question. I know lots of riders myself included that like to customize their bikes. I put 15,000-20,000 miles per year on my bike and never trailer it. But I love my wheels, mini apes, and lots of chrome do dads.

it's not black and white...most fall somewhere in the middle according to their tastes.

Honestly, and no offense, but how do you define this? I have seen those "conversation pieces" roll cross country and those bikes customized for good traveling traded in after three years with 3,000 miles on them. You either ride it or you don't and that is subjective. To me, 10,000 miles in a year living in Wisconsin is a decent year, 15,000 is better, but down south I would expect much higher. To some, 2,000 a year is a good year, who are we to judge? My personal bests, 1980 - 30,000 plus in four months on a stretched and raked rigid frame shovelhead (who said they weren't made for traveling???), 1989 - 1,100 mile single day on a 1979 fatbob superglide and in 2001 - just over 11,000 mile round trip Alaska adventure in 25 days on that same 1979 superglide ........ but I like some customizing, too, so customize it to your style and ride it the way you want, there are no winners or losers, why are we keeping score?

I'd like to think of myself as a practical rider here, a little on the stylish side,
but mostly practicality.
Nix on the apes and skinny tire fetishes.
