monster ovals are quieter than the standard ovals, my opinion is the monster ovals suck.

Have not heard monster ovals first-hand. I have monster rounds on my '12 Road King. They were nice and mellow, but deeper and louder than stock, with stock head pipe and air cleaner. Got louder and deeper with new hi-flo A/C and new cat-less head pipe + re-tune of ECM. I like 'em!

I have the classic ovals and love the sound. V&H has a unique sound to them. I have heard the Monster Ovals and they are too quiet for me. I would personally go for the new twin slash ovals. They look great and are louder than the monsters.

I have the twin slash ovals and really like them. Real deep and plenty loud for me. I don't get tired of them on long day rides either. I'd buy them again. Plus I think they look great too.

I have the Classic Ovals. The only issue I have is that the baffles are not changeable like many other Vance & Hines slip-ons.

I have the twin-slash monster ovals. I cannot say if they sound better than any of the other slip-ons, but I like the sound and the look. I believe they all will change the sound of your exhaust, but it will come down to personal preference in the end.

Have had the V&H Basic Slash cut Slip-ons on my last two bikes. I love them, loud when you want them to be and you can still pull in late at night without wakin the whole neighborhood. Great balance, great deep throaty roar.

suggest you go to a "bike night" and see what you like.

I find monster ovals louder than I like on the open road and fatiguing over a long day

I find that riding behind someone with M/O's is unpleasant with tinny rattle projecting straight out the back.

In our group, any one with crappy pipes can ride at the rear.

my ears ring enough already

I read this a couple times, my MO's are anything but "tinny", maybe something to do with certain head pipes. Mine sound deep, muscle carish sounding. Are you sure they are Monster Ovals and not the original Ovals? Those sound tinny to me and overly loud.
