Default Enable alarm on Bags

I am just wondering if anyone has tied into their alarm circuit with switches on their bags. What I want is the alarm to go off if the bags are opened when the fob is not next to the bike. I know they are pretty easy to pry open and just want people to notice who did it.

If you have done this, which wires did you cut and how did you do it? I'm sure there is a way, I just don't like having to figure it out myself.

you could wire in something yourself using magnetic switches ( or mercury switches) a battery and a piezo- and a manual arm/disarm switch.

cost about $12 each side.

maybe I live in a perfect world- but I've never seen or heard of a saddlebag being stolen or pried open.

and I get to some pretty rough places

Half the time I ride with a passenger and I would hate to have to give her the key or go with her so she could open my saddle bag.

I figure out of site out of mind, if I am in a place where I will not be seeing the bike for a while I might lock them, but otherwise my convenience is what is important.

Cool idea Mike of adding in an alarm per bag. And...actually...there are enough reports of bags being stolen that I have replaced the standard mount with a tamper proof kit from brukus.com (a forum sponsor). Do a search sometime and see the bags being stolen as demand increases for custom bags and lid speakers.

Don't let your guard down because of some screws.

you local ace hardware can supply you same or better hardware for 1/3 the cost.

If bags were being stolen in any number I would;

1.) know some one or know of someone

2.) see bags at swap meets

3.) see ads on my local craigslist

I'm calling mythbusters.

I have actually seen quite a few bags at swapmeets and on craigslist. Don't know where they got 'em. Thanks for your chastising message.

That’s a great idea - Hell it must be because I have thought about it too :-)) But I don’t think it is possible. The alarm is sealed with an internal tilt and / or movement sensor and shares information directly with the ECM such as ignition lockout. To my knowledge there are no wires that you could splice a saddlebag sensor into.
