Default KW versus HD Curved windshield

Hello, all

I have a little buffeting on my 09 Ultra and have been looking at windshields. I'd love to get the wind away from my eyes/face a little more at 70 MPH and above. I actually like the look of the HD Windsplitter better than the Klockwerks Flare. Anyone have experience with either? I seem to remember someone saying the KW one fluttered at the top at high speed. And as long as I'm asking, any thoughts on whether either one would be a $170 improvement over my stock 10-incher?

Also, anyone know if the fork air deflectors reduce the wind appreciably. I've seen some with cut-outs for the lowers on the Ultra but at $170 I want to feel a real difference.

All opinions welcome.

Thanks,
R0ckie

I don't have any experience with the Windsplitter, but I am very pleased with the 8.5 inch Klock Werks on my Ultra Classic. I also have a 9.0 inch LRS, which I like almost as much. Either of them might be an improvement over the stock windshield if it is too tall for you. On my '11 Ultra Classic, the stock was 12.0 inches, which was too tall to look over.

I always thought the stock Ultra shield was 12". When I measured it (the way was explained to be proper) I measured it at 13". There seems to be more than one way to measure. Not sure where you are getting 10"? Maybe someone has already put a shorter windshield on? If you bought new the dealer could have changed it b4 you bought it.

Anyway, KW (and ones of similar design) are made more for aerodynamics and keeping the front end down. Not necessarily buffeting and wind blocking. I debated a long time and finally decided on an 8" LRS Ultra Flip. As far as I can tell it blocks exactly the same amount of wind while being a lot shorter, and looking better. Add to that the price and it's an all around winner!!! Oh, if it helps I'm 6' with 32 inseam.

Dew Me, I changed the 12-incher myself and put on the 10-inch one. I meant it was a stock-shaped windshield, not the stock 12-inch height. Sorry.
