Default blew out carbon - bike runs better - wtf

strange piece of info for fellow riders. I have the parts to change my sprockets from stock to 30T and rear IDS to the Jap IDS. Also have hi compression pistons as well as 257 cams to put in. big expectation was a shift in power range which would begin at 3K. Thats pretty far above where most of my riding is. I go thru gears pretty quick and spend most of my time in the 1700 to 2700 range. So anyway, I been riding the bike in the 3K range to get used to the sound of the bike once I put in the new parts. Well I didn't put in the parts yet, buyt I guess riding in the 3k+ range blew out carbon. Bike runs and sounds better. The priority of all the upgrades I was going to do, just went down.

Uh, well, 3K is about where you should be, bike is lugging at 1700, wind her out a bit for pete's sake! You didnt blow out any carbon ( I have to believe this "blow out the carbon" bit is a huge myth), you're running where you should be, no wonder it feels better.

likely the higher than usual rpm range ( for you) is where the volumetric efficiency is.

carbon ? are you driving one of my 1966 Cadillacs?

modern motors even air cooled run pretty clean inside

You shouldn't be operating a Twin Cam much under 2500 unless your going downhill IMHO. It aint a shovelhead.
