Handlebar Blues, Road King Classic 2002
After std. bars to westerns with a riser, to Chubby RKII 518 bars, I have finally installed the Heritage/Police bars and I think I have hit the sweet spot at last.
The std. ones as most owners will agree are less than perfect in terms of comfort. Risers on the RK Classic compromises the styling IMHO, and I still had to reach too far causing lower back pain, so the Westerns came off. Then came the Chubbys which I liked very much but ultimately the width 35" had a downside and I was stretching my arms out too much, the position was upright as a result of a massive 14" pullback. The Chubbys are supreme quality and truly looked good, but I wanted the sweet spot in terms of comfort.
The forums all have a common denominator which is the Heritage / Police bars. People have been saying how they 'just work', in terms of styling and comfort. Having fitted them I have to agree so far, however I am yet to do a day ride with them, but I can already see the differnce in terms of comfort. I read one guys' opinion which I have to agree: 'this is the bar Harley should have fitted from the factory' saving lots of money and time for the Road King rider!
I'll post an update after the first 300km plus ride, hopefully Easter.
