I have an iphone that I'd like to use as a GPS/Music player with headphones. There are plenty of options as far as mounting phones/gps/etc...

I'm wondering what people do to charge them (GPS will run my battery quick) on a RK. I'd like it to be affordable. Is it possible to run it into the unused headlamp switch?

The last trip I took, I used the SAE cable end they install for battery tenders --> SAE to Cigarette DC female --> Male DC to iphone male --> iphone --> headphones

It ended up being a bundle of cords in my pocket, and would like a cleaner option.

 

I had the same problem. I went to the electronics surplus store and picked up an SAE cable and cheap phone adapter for under $5. I dismantled the cigarette lighter plug and soldered the SAE cable in and heat-shrinked the PC board in the middle. I just have one small cable now.

 

I'm sure there might be a nice looking chromed cigarette lighter you could mount somewhere on your front bar area. Doing that, just use a USB adapter in it and charge your phone through that.
