First bike I've been on in nearly 40 years. I rode my oldest son's 350 Suzuki back then on Sat and Sun mornings. It really upset my late wife so I finally stopped riding it. Our #2 showed up a few years ago with a Dyna nad tehn in 2010 added a Street Glide to his stabel. Every time he came over she told me no way. Out of love and respect durin our 53 years together I never got one. I lost her in Dec, 2011 and I'm finally getting my feet back under me. I was talking to my son Monday night and told him I had almost made up my mind and what should I get. Thought about our conversation a while that night, got up yesterday and went to my local HD dealer intending to start the shopping, pricing, etc. Never left the dealership until it was over. Now my old 74 year old self is the proud owner of a 2012 Electra Glide. The young salesman had trouble with my cell so th epicture is kinda fuzzy. More later.

Good for you !!!

Take it easy.

I would find a group to ride with until you get some miles under you. I hadn't ridden for 20+ years and did find myself in need of some help to get it off my leg a couple of times.

Both times I was barely moving, choked the clutch, found myself on the road with the bike on my leg. Didn't get "hurt" really. But I was pinned underneath. Called my wife, she walked to the end of the driveway and helped me out.

The word "embarrassed" fit the situation well. I was glad I had viewed the video about how to properly pick up a bagger.

WELCOME.

truly awesome, welcome back!

take it slow, get some additional training.

I was away from riding for about 10 years, while my only daughter grew up some.

My wife at the time deemed it selfish of me, to risk my safety riding a motorcycle when I had a young family.

Now that the wife is an ex, and the daughter is 18yrs Im back as well.

The level of rust in your technique, as well as the tremendous increase in the amount of cars on the road with bad drivers alone warrants re education.

Besides it's fun, and you will meet other local riders.

Right down the road in Kingwood. Sorry about your loss, but the return to a hobby will help. I agree with others, take the class first. Beautiful bike!
