also when i meant the crank was done.. it was sent to revolution 3000 miles ago

ditto on the metal fragment theory. if you pull the cam plate in the future, add the intake screen. also go for the super magnet drain plugs. remember.....on a stock harley...the oil pump protects the oil filter...there is no filtering of oil from the sump to the oil pump...filtering occurs after the pump on the way to the engine parts.

Default Same issue

Have the same issue on an FXR. Turns out the performance valve springs I put in were to much load for the woodruff key and is snaping it off under all the pressure.

Could be bad luck, could be the builder dropped something into the engine and didn't catch it. Could be the crank shifted, whoever tears it down should be able to come up with a cause of failure. I'm betting the oil pump is what failed first. It's very rare an oil pump gear just breaks, usually something causes the gear to break.

I am missing something here.

The cam gears do not have keys, they are both splined on the shafts.
