Just added the Polk mm6501 marine component speakers to my bike. Lost two gauges to the tweeters but the sound is amazing. I've had JM's, Biketronics and Booms but so far the Polks out rock all of them!

I see where you said your RF amp blew out. I just had my third one blow out yesterday.
The first one lasted 8 minutes, the second one lasted almost an hour and the third lasted just over an hour. At this rate I'm gonna have to buy a lot more of them. (Ha ha....NOT !!!!!!!)

I've never set one higher than 5 (gain) and when I turn my stereo up, as the wind gets louder........BUZZZZZ !!!
I hate that with a passion, as I really love my tunes.

I'm going to go see if I can have them repaired. I am just curious what you were able to find out. I'm currently looking into other possible amps that will fit in the fairing (FLHX). I've contacted RF a few times and they won't respond. When they do respond, they copy and paste their FAQ's sections that have nothing to do with the problem.

Any thoughts/ help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Nah...no warranty. I did manage to get good pricing on them though...and an avg. cost of about $120.00. Yes they were all new and still wrapped in the plastic. I know that's still a lot of money too though.

i also suffered from the advice i recieved from my local stereo shop..guy said he done many bagger stereos and that the pbr 300 and alpine typr R speakers was the way to go... what a fool i was.. after replacing the pbr 4 times i finally came to my senses to change amps..heard great things about the SS picasso amps.but was having trouble with stock availability so i turned onto the JL xd series amps..i ended up using polk audio MM series coax paired with the jl xd amp i am really pleased in comparrison to my old setup..the alpine speakers cost a fraction of the polk but the diference is worth the extra cash.. i believe i payed around $200 for the 6.5 polks and $200 for the 6x9s. the JL amp ran about $300..

also i wanted to mention that amazon is theroetically supposed to warranty my blown rockford amps (i still have 3 of them to send back hopefully they will be replaced) but i contacted rockford just in case and they charge $113 to service or refurbish a blown pbr amp..i only payed $130 anyways...lol if amazon replaces them for free i will give them to my buddies as stocking stuffers this xmas...hahaha

Always admired your set up, can you hear your rear speakers while riding? I have to rewire my polk audio 6x9s and have never really cared for them compared to the hertz, if the speakers can be heard I will upgrade
